Karen Vold
Since the day she was born, rodeo has been a part of Karen Vold’s life. At age 11 she began trickriding and was performing professionally by age 14. In 1962 Karen was instrumental in forming “The Flying Cimarrons” After the disbandment of the Flying Cimarrons, Karen and three others formed another group known as the “Fireballs.” Between these two groups, Karen performed at almost every major rodeo in the U.S. Her marriage to PRCA stock contractor Harry Vold ended Karen’s career as a trickrider in 1972. Since then her life has become a combination of rodeo, family, and teaching trickriding.
Linda Scholtz
Linda Scholtz chose gymnastics at 30 miles per hour on a galloping horse as a simple way to stay in shape. This choice came about at a rodeo where Linda’s husband Paul, was riding saddle broncs. She joined three other students under the instruction of Karen Vold, with the idea of exercise and just learning something new, but went on to get her PRCA card in 1980. She became one of the top women in the pro circuit for the next 20 years. She and her husband Paul, and ordained minister to professional rodeo contestants, live in Boone, Colorado.
